Technical Information


E-Mail Server Information  (for use within Midstate’s serving area):
POP Server = pop.midstatesd.net
*SMTP Server = smtp.midstatesd.net
E-Mail Server Information  (for use outside of Midstate’s serving area):
POP Server = pop.midstatesd.net
SMTP Server = smtp.midstatesd.net

*Must use authentication and have the outgoing server use the incoming server settings.  Call the Internet Help Desk at 778-8028 for assistance with this option.

To Change Your E-Mail Password:

Click here to login to Webmail. Type in your email address and current password and then click on Account Management Center at the bottom left of the screen.
Once you're in the AMC, choose "Change Password" at the top and follow the instructions.

To check your dial-up hours, change your password, change e-mail filter settings:

Click here to login to Webmail and choose Account Management Center.
Click on My Connection, then click Time Online. From this screen, you may also choose to change your password or adjust your E-Mail Filter settings.



Setting Up Your Midstate E-Mail

Below are instructions for setting up access for both methods.

Webmail

Connect to http://webmail.midstatesd.net
Login with your e-mail address and the password you chose when you signed up.

Outlook Express

To add an e-mail account:

If you are using Outlook Express for the first time, you may get a connection wizard when you open the program. Follow the instructions in the wizard. Note: The beginning of the wizard may ask you if you want to open a new account or use an existing account. Choose to use an existing account. Fill in the questions in each window with the information provided by Midstate and click Next. When the installation is complete, click Finish. If an account already exists, follow the instructions below:

  • Open Outlook Express
  • On the Tools menu, click Accounts
  • Be sure you are on the MAIL tab
  • In the Internet Accounts dialog box, click the Add button
  • Select Mail to open the Internet Connection WIzard, and then follow the instructions to establish a connection with a mail server
  • Display Name: (Your real name, i.e. John Doe)
  • Click Next
  • Choose the option "I already have an e-mail address I'd like to use" and type in the e-mail address provided by Midstate
  • Click Next
  • Now we need to fill in the server entries. The first is POP3. The Incoming Mail Server is pop.midstatesd.net
  • The Outgoing Mail Server is mail.midstatesd.net
  • Click Next
  • Type in your Account Name. (Hint: It's the first part of your e-mail address before the @ sign)
  • Put in your password. If you type in your password here, you won't have to do it each time you check your mail. Choose Save Password.
  • Click Next
  • You are now finished - Click Finish.

To learn how to use your e-mail program, click on Help on the tool bar at the top of the Outlook window.

Changing your password in Outlook Express:

  • Open Outlook Express
  • On the Tools menu, click Accounts
  • Be sure you are on the MAIL tab
  • Click the default mail account, then click Properties
  • Click on the Servers tab
  • Delete the current password in the password box
  • Type in your new password and check the "remember password" box
  • Click OK and then Close

Windows Mail – Vista

To add an e-mail account:

If you are setting up an e-mail account in Windows Vista, follow the instructions below:

  • Open Windows Mail
  • Go to the Tools Menu and select Accounts
  • Click Add
  • Click E-Mail Account
  • Click Next
  • Type your name
  • Click Next
  • Type your e-mail address
  • Click Next
  • Your Incoming Mail Server type is POP3
  • Your Incoming Mail Server is pop.midstatesd.net
  • Your Outgoing Mail Server is mail.midstatesd.net
  • Click Next
  • Your e-mail username will fill in automatically
  • Type your password and check the "remember password" box
  • Click Next
  • Click Finish
  • Click Close

To learn more about Windows Mail, click on the Help in the toolbar at the top of the window. Pick About Microsoft Windows Mail.

Changing your password in Windows Mail:

  • Open Windows Mail
  • Go to the Tools Menu and select Accounts
  • Click the mail account for which you want to change the password
  • Click Properties
  • Click on the Servers tab
  • Delete the current password in the password box
  • Type in your new password and check the "remember password" box
  • Click OK and close the Accounts box

Windows Live Mail 2011

To add an e-mail account:

  •  Open Windows Live Mail
  • Click on Accounts
  • Click E-Mail
  • In the E-Mail Address box type in your full e-mail address – i.e. yourusername@midstatesd.net
  • In the Password box type in your password and check the “remember this password” box
  • Fill in the Display Name box -  this can be whatever you want
  • Click Next
  • In the Configure Server Settings, choose Server Type “POP”.
  • The POP server name is pop.midstatesd.net  (leave port at 110)
  • Leave Authenticate Using setting at “clear text”
  • Fill in the logon username box -  this is the first part of your e-mail address, before the @ sign.
  • Fill in the Outgoing Server box -  the server name is mail.midstatesd.net
  • Click Next and then Finish

Changing your password in Windows Live Mail:

  • Open Windows Live Mail
  • Click Accounts
  • Click on your account name on the left
  • Click Properties
  • Click the Servers tab at the top of the window
  • In the Password box, delete contents, and then type in your new password
  • Click OK
